Hitachi has announced updates to its environmental vision and its long-term environmental targets ‘Hitachi Environmental Innovation 2050’ which defines Hitachi group’s direction and ambitions in addressing global environmental challenges toward FY2050. Reflecting the growing urgency of climate and nature-related issues, shifting societal awareness, and evolving business models, the updated vision and long-term environmental targets is built on three strategic pillars, ‘Decarbonization,’ ‘Circular Economy’ and ‘Nature Positive’.
In addition, Hitachi’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets for FY2050 have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as a net-zero science-based target as aligned with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5 degrees goal.
